PELHAM – On Tuesday, March 19, Pelham High School held its annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony which highlighted a large number of the school’s students through their inclusion into a variety of honors societies.

The event, which inducted 270 total students into the local Pelham High School chapters of several national honor societies, highlighted the hard work and focus that students have displayed both in and out of class toward the attainment of various academic accomplishments.

“It’s always a pleasure to celebrate the academic success of our students,” said Tonya Hatch, teacher for Pelham High School, sponsor of the National English Honor Society and lead coordinator for the ceremony. “Since all of our honor societies have both high GPA and disciplinary requirements, it really speaks to the level of success these students have been able to achieve.”

A total of 476 individual inductions were included as part of the ceremony across eight honor societies. That accomplishment compounded the fact that multiple students were accepted into at least two of the represented societies.

The complete list of inductions included:

  •  National Honor Society – 103
  •  National English Honor Society – 77
  •  Spanish Honor Society – 46
  •  National Technical Honor Society – 35
  •  Quill & Scroll – 38
  •  Mu Alpha Theta – 80
  •  National Art Honor Society – 26
  •  Science Honor Society – 71

“As principal, witnessing the dedication and preparedness these students exhibit in their academic pursuits fills me with immense pride and optimism for the future,” said Kim Kiel, Pelham High School principal. “Their commitment to excellence not only reflects their individual aspirations but also serves as a testament to the values of hard work and perseverance we uphold as an educational institution.”

Kiel further described the recognition given to each of the students as measures not only acknowledging their individual achievements but ones further underscoring the overall significance of qualities like academic excellence and leadership toward the shaping of tomorrow’s leaders.

Kiel also describe watching her students take to the stage as “truly heartening,” and that she and others members of the Pelham High School staff were more than confident that the students would continue to inspire others and make significant contributions to the community and society as the progressed in life.

“I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to this significant occasion,” Kiel said. “Firstly, I would like to thank our esteemed sponsors for their generous support and unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence within our school community. Your contributions have played a vital role in making this event possible and in providing our students with invaluable opportunities for growth and development.”
