MILLBROOK – After taking a week off for spring break, the Chelsea Hornets picked up right back where they left off as they took a 3-1 win against the Prattville Lions on Thursday, April 4 at 17 Springs Complex.

Chelsea came into the match well-rested and used its fresh legs to take the early lead. Shortly after the match began, Javier Rivera-Miranda found Kaleb Bass, and Bass sent the shot into the goal for the opener.

That lead lasted roughly 20 minutes before Prattville equalized and tied the game up at 1-1, and that score line held into the halftime break.

After halftime, both teams came out of the locker room looking for a spark to lift them to victory. Luckily for Chelsea, it had one in the form of Max Wever.

With less than 10 minutes to go, Bass tried for his second goal of the game but had his shot saved by the Lions keeper. However, Wever lurked close by and hit a follow-up shot for the go-ahead goal to put the Hornets up 2-1 late into the match.

Just a couple of minutes later, senior defender Nick Fogle launched the ball into the penalty box on a throw-in to try and create another scoring chance for Chelsea.

The ball deflected in the box, but Wever handled the bounce and tapped in the ball for his second goal of the night and the Hornets’ third of the match.

His brace in the final 40 minutes pushed Chelsea past Prattville for the 3-1 win to get back to winning ways.

The Hornets will hit the road for both games next week, first traveling to 4A Fultondale to face the Bobcats on Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. before finishing the week with an area matchup at Hewitt-Trussville on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m.
