BIRMINGHAM – The Pelham Panthers went into spring break looking for some positive momentum, and they may have found some in a big win over the Ramsay Rams.

Pelham claimed a 10-0 win over Ramsey on the road at Ramsay High School on Thursday, April 4.

The victory snapped a two-match losing streak for the Panthers after losing area matches to Briarwood and Helena in their last games before taking a week off for spring break.

Pelham hoped to get back in action on Tuesday, April 2 in a road trip to the Leeds Green Wave, but severe thunderstorms in the area prevented the match from being played and the game was postponed to April 23.

However, that cancellation just meant that the Panthers were even more well-rested heading into their trip north into Birmingham to face the Rams two days later.

Pelham found its way through the Ramsay midfield and back line to put pressure on the Rams’ goal, and those attacks eventually turned into loads of goals.

The Panthers racked up 10 goals throughout the match against the Rams as they kept the scoring going at a steady pace.

On the opposite end of the field, Pelham kept Ramsay from getting any sort of traction in the match as it kept the Rams scoreless and posted a clean sheet for the fourth time this season.

That led to a 10-0 win as the match ended due to the mercy rule to give the Panthers a bounce-back victory.

Pelham will remain on the road for another tough area matchup against Indian Springs on Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m.

The match is the first of three straight area games for the Panthers to finish out area play as they will host Helena on Thursday, April 11 at 5 p.m. and Briarwood on Tuesday, April 16 at 5:30 p.m.
