ALABASTER – Alabaster is requesting that parents supervise their kids after another incident of vandalism occurred at Veterans Park.

The city of Alabaster shared footage of two youths—with their faces obstructed to protect their identities—engaging in the vandalization of the soccer bathroom doors at Veterans Park on April 7 at approximately 6:19 p.m. This incidents marks one of multiple at the park, including graffiti and the destruction of one of the restrooms in May 2023.

“We continue to have instances of vandalism at our parks, particularly in park restroom facilities,” read an official Facebook post by the city of Alabaster. “Public spaces at our parks are under video surveillance, and we will continue to work aggressively to identify and prosecute individuals who damage or deface public property.”

In its post, the city requested the help of local parents in helping to keep these acts of vandalism from happening again.

“Please supervise your children while at our city parks,” read the city’s Facebook post. “If your children are old enough to go to the parks alone, please discuss with them the severity of the potential criminal charges they could face if caught vandalizing city property.”

The city shared that if the frequent acts of vandalism continue, it will close park restroom facilities whenever Alabaster Parks and Recreation employees are not present.
