HOOVER – The Spain Park Jaguars honored the many achievements of their senior class with another one on Tuesday, April 16: an area championship.

The Jags claimed a dominant 6-0 win over the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at Spain Park High School to earn a victory on senior night and wrap up the area title.

Spain Park entered the match 4-0 in the area as part of its perfect season. However, with Oak Mountain finishing 4-2 in the area, the Jags hadn’t fully clinched the area championship despite holding a goal differential advantage over the Eagles and winning every area match.

However, Spain Park eliminated any doubt surrounding its status as the top side in Class 7A, Area 6 with a convincing victory against Hewitt-Trussville.

After the Jags won the first meeting with the Huskies comfortably 3-0 on March 1 at Hewitt-Trussville High School, they got to work on offense and pulled away to an even larger lead over their area foe.

Spain Park doubled its offensive output from that match in its latest showdown with Hewitt-Trussville as it put six goals past the Huskies backline to get out in front.

Just like their first meeting, the Jags held strong on defense and didn’t allow a single goal from Hewitt-Trussville in the entire 80 minutes of the match.

That sealed the clean sheet for Spain Park and gave them the 6-0 victory for the season-series sweep and area championship.

While the Jags seniors will host a playoff matchup at Spain Park High School as area champions, Tatum Ahlemeyer, Lottie Pound, Auryn Tillette, Leah Wallace and Evyn Williams got to finish off their senior nights on top with a shutout victory.

With the win, Spain Park moves to 19-0 on the season and will look to keep its undefeated campaign going with a road trip to Homewood on Thursday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at Waldrop Stadium.
