COLUMBIANA – On Friday, April 19, the city of Columbiana released the upcoming dates, times and entertainment lineup for this summer’s Music on Main event.

Under the umbrella name of Sunset Music and Market, Columbiana’s popular musical event will return each Friday evening throughout the months of June and July, with the only exception being the week of Independence Day.

Music on Main will also coincide with the Columbiana Farmers Market each of those days and provide residents and visitors to the city with the capability to peruse and purchase a wide variety of agricultural and homemade goods and products.

“We are so thankful to the Shelby County Arts Council and Columbiana Main Street for sponsoring this event,” read the official announcement from the city’s social media accounts. “Make plans to join us under the string lights on South Main Street.”

As announced, each Friday evening will see Columbiana’s Main Street close to traffic when the Columbiana Farmers Market opens for business at 5:30 p.m. Musical entertainment will then begin at 6:30 p.m.

With the city’s entertainment district in effect, the event has also seen many of the city’s Main Street businesses remain open past normal business hours in past years.

The official entertainment lineup released by the city of Columbiana for each week is as follows:

  •  June 7 – The Stepdads
  •  June 14 – The Cash Domino Killers
  •  June 21 – Lealan Carter Band
  •  June 28 – Shimmer Band
  •  July 12 – Daniel Bowen
  •  July 19 – The Goat Hill String Band
  •  July 26 – Kingfish

This year will mark the return of The Stepdads, The Cash Domino Killers and The Goat Hill String Band who were among the acts that played at the event during last year’s run.

The Shimmer Band’s performance will also be highlighted by that Friday’s inclusion in the city’s Liberty Day festival weekend, which promises to draw even larger crowds to the event as part of one of the city’s largest and most attended events.

If you are a local farmer or handmade artisan who would like to participate in the market, you can find out more by emailing mainstreet@cityofcolumbiana.com or by messaging the Columbiana Farmers Market Facebook Page.
