CLANTON – The Pelham Panthers had a successful trip south to Chilton County to face the Tigers on the soccer pitch as both the varsity girls and boys teams walked away with victories.

The Pelham girls cruised to an 8-0 win before the boys claimed a 3-0 victory to give both teams shutout victories on Thursday, April 18 at Chilton County High School.

In the girls match, Pelham entered the night looking for a bounce-back victory after losing to Briarwood in its area finale just two nights prior.

The Panthers did just that and put the loss to the area champions in the rearview to strive towards a positive end to the season.

Pelham got out to a commanding lead as it scored five goals in the first half. What’s more, Chilton County didn’t have a response in the opening 40 minutes, giving the Panthers a 5-0 halftime lead.

With a commanding lead going into the second half, Pelham didn’t stop there and added three more goals before the full-time whistle.

The Panthers defense also finished out their second clean sheet in three matches to solidify the 8-0 win on the road.

Lacey Lambert finished the night with a hat trick as she led the team with three goals. Natalie Bunch scored two to secure herself a brace and join Lambert with a multi-goal match.

Valerie Jamison, Jocelyn Marquez-Castro and Ashvi Davawala also joined the score sheet with a goal apiece.

The Pelham boys followed that up with a shutout performance of their own in the final match of the night.

The Panthers got back on the scoreboard with the opening goal after missing out on scoring against Briarwood, and they didn’t stop there.

Pelham finished the night with three goals in total as it found the back of the net multiple times against the Tigers.

The defense then finished off the clean sheet by not allowing a goal. That sealed the 3-0 win and sent the Panthers back to Pelham victorious.

The boys will play their next match at home against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa on Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Then, they will finish the regular season alongside the girls’ final match at Leeds on Tuesday, April 23 with the girls kicking off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys starting at 7 p.m.
