PELHAM – The Pelham Public Library is currently aiming to bring public attention to its new involvement with an ongoing author talk series produced by the Library Speakers Consortium.

The event come as a result of Pelham library’s new partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium, which now allows the library to showcase a virtual series that puts attendees in the same virtual room as award winning authors.

Authors involved with the series cover a wide range of genres and topics, including those that have seen their works appear among the New York Times Bestselling Author lists and other renowned achievements in the world of literature.

“The Library Speakers Consortium is a partnership of more than 400 libraries that stems across the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand with the goal of making author talks more accessible to communities of all sizes,” said Brandon Adler, host and moderator of the program who sits with each author.

While all talks are free and open to the public, those planning to attend each talk are required to register for the event—where they will have the ability to submit questions for the featured author. Those questions are then chosen and will have the opportunity to be addressed during the conversation along with those that can be submitted live during the broadcast.

Although the event is marketed as a “monthly virtual author talk,” the normal schedule sees an average of three author talks per month.

For the month of May, New York Times Bestselling Author Douglas Brunt, spoke on his book ‘The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel: Genius, Power, and Deception on the Eve of World War I’ for the first discussion of the month on May 1.

This month will also welcome New York Times Bestselling Authors Nina Simon and Rebecca F. Kuang, on Wednesday May 8 and Tuesday, May 21 respectively.

Simon will be discussing her debut work that landed her on the New York Times-Bestselling Debut Author list, ‘Mother-Daughter Murder Night,’ a lighthearted whodunnit revolving around a grandmother, mother and daughter as they attempt to find the true culprit in a local murder.

Kuang, who is known for her Poppy War trilogy and Babel: An Arcane History, will discuss her latest novel, Yellowface, a work that tackles questions of diversity, racism, cultural appropriation and the alienation of social media.
