Another season of soccer is in the books across Shelby County and numerous players received honors for their performance in the release of the 2024 girls soccer All-State Team.

Coaches from across the state of Alabama voted on those who stood out in each classification, with many players coming from Shelby County earning roster spots  when the teams were released on May 21.

The area saw eight players named to each of the All-State All-Classification teams, which takes players from every school’s soccer program in the state, no matter what class the team is in.

The First Team included Briarwood Christian’s Taylor Leib, Oak Mountain’s Avery Smith and Spain Park’s Tatum Ahlemeyer and Reese Oldfield.

The Second Team fielded Briarwood’s Erin Gilbert, Oak Mountain’s Kati Ann Shepherd and Raegan Whitaker and Spain Park’s Addy Soehn.

The five classifications throughout the state each had its own team named to go along with the all-classification players.

In Class 7A, the Oak Mountain Eagles had Shepherd, Smith and Whitaker named to the team. The Spain Park Jaguars were led by Ahlemeyer, Oldfield and Soehn, while the Thompson Warriors were represented by Dia Montiel-Duenas.

Montiel-Duenas had a memorable year sharing the ball, finding 19 assists to add to the 17 goals that she converted for Thompson.

In Class 6A, the Briarwood Christian Lions had three representatives, including Leib, Brooklyn Barnett and Erin Gilbert.
