MONTEVALLO – Fresh off of their reception of being named Shelby Living’s 2024 Best Farmers’ Market, the Montevallo Farmers’ Market is working to raise community awareness for its annual return in June.

Opening for its first outing of the year on Monday, June 3, the Montevallo Farmers’ Market will return every Monday from 3-6 p.m. until its last scheduled day on Monday, Aug. 19.

As in past years, the Montevallo Farmers’ Market will be located behind the Montevallo First Baptist Church within the church’s grassy fenced-in parking lot located at 660 Main Street.  Parking for visitors will be available in the paved lot behind the church.

This year marks the 14th annual holding of the market, which is organized as a joint community project led by the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce, Montevallo First Baptist Church and the city of Montevallo.

“We’ve got a really good group of local growers this year,” Montevallo Chamber Executive Director Adele Nelson said.

The Montevallo Farmers’ Market historically averages between 16-20 vendors every week for visitors to peruse and purchase items that include flowers, handmade soaps, salves, candles, lotions, lemonade, peanuts, baked goods, honey, jams, jellies and a variety fresh fruits and locally grown vegetables.

The Montevallo Farmers’ Market has also been declared as a certified market by the Alabama Department of Agriculture.
