COLUMBIANA – Now going under the joint label of Sunset Music & Market, Columbiana’s tried and true Music on Main and Farmers’ Market events will return in force this summer.

The joint events are set to hit the streets of Columbiana for the first outings of the season on June 7. In organizing this year’s run, planners of the event are readying to welcome hundreds of local residents and those from the surrounding communities into the heart of Columbiana.

This season will see a total of seven evenings filled with music, entertainment and locally sourced produce staged under the string lights of Columbiana’s Main Street.

As in past years, the Farmers Market will begin prior to the onset of Music on Main and will see the street closed prior to its start at 5:30 p.m. each evening. Attendees will then have one hour to mingle, peruse and purchase goods from the state approved market before the evening’s musical entertainment gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

For the first Music on Main of the season on June 7, Columbiana will welcome The Stepdads into town. The band describes itself as, “a string band that blurs the lines between bluegrass, heirloom country and upbeat blues music”

Event organizers expect that the influx of visitors to Columbiana’s Main Street will also result in extended store hours for many of the local shops and businesses in Columbiana which have seen several recent additions since last summer’s round of events. The Columbiana Live, Arts and Entertainment District will also be in full effect for every event.

The event for June 28 will serve as an extension of Columbiana’s Liberty Day Festival, which has historically stood as the city’s largest celebration and community gathering of the year. In observance of the week of Independence Day, no festival will be held on July 5.

The complete lineup for the summer will be as follows:

• June 7 – The Stepdads
• June 14 – The Cash Domino Killers
• June 21 – LeAlan Carter Band
• June 28 – Liberty Day Festival Weekend- Shimmer Band
• July 12 – Daniel Bowden
• July 19 – The Goat Hill String Band
• July 26 – Kingfish

Sunset Music & Market is organized and offered to the residents and visitors of Columbiana through a unified effort between the city of Columbiana, Columbiana Main Street and the Shelby County Arts Council.
