CHELSEA – Those looking for the perfect spot to pick up a gift for a loved one have a new shop to stop at after the opening of Style of the South in Chelsea.
After opening at 16161, Highway 280 in Chelsea back in February, Style of the South continues to provide customers with a variety of items and goods to shop from.
“We try to find unusual and different gifts—things that you don’t see everywhere,” Owner Beth Holsonback said. “We have some houseware type things, home accessories, just a great variety of stuff.”
The business came about after Holsonback decided to get into selling goods at booths at The Mercantile in Brook Highlands. Eventually, after hearing from customers that they would enjoy a physical store and the fortuitous opening of a building in Chelsea where Holsonback lives, Style of the South was born.
Holsonback shared that the business has received a positive response from the community after opening its first brick-and-mortar store.
“We’ve heard (a) really good response from the community, so we’re really excited,” Holsonback said.
Customers are treated to a distinct atmosphere as they walk into the business. Once inside, they immediately come into contact with varieties of flowers in plant pots, a small fountain with water trickling, candles and beach towels.
Within the 800 square foot space that is Style of the South, customers are greeted by a wide assortment of items, including woven baskets, wreaths and sashes, pillows, bags, soaps, mugs and housewares.
Holsonback said that one customer, who has visited the business three times, shared that it was her go-to store for gifts.
“A lot of people have said, ‘Well you can find something for just about anybody here,” Holsonback said.
Holsonback has lived in the Chelsea area for eight years and loves having the business located in the area that she said “feels like home.”
“I love 280 and everything on 280 and the community is just so friendly,” she said. “That’s our favorite part, is getting to talk to people from the community and elsewhere.”
