CHELSEA – Chelsea’s largest city event is set to return later this month and entertain residents with food, live entertainment and conclude with a large fireworks display.

The fourth annual Chelseafest and The Big Kaboom will take place before Independence Day on Saturday, June 29 from 6-10 p.m.

“This is an event I look forward to every year,” said Scott Weygand, Chelsea city councilmember and mayor pro tempore. “It’s a great atmosphere to celebrate this wonderful country and the freedoms we enjoy. It’s a true community event, and I love seeing everyone out there.”

The event will be kicked off by the Yankee Doodle Dandy Children’s Parade and children are invited to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, scooters and wagons and parade down Chelsea Corners Way.

Attendees of the festival will be able to enjoy a selection of food trucks during the event and there will be tents, tables and chairs near the food trucks for people to make use of. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own blankets to hold a picnic.

Liberty Baptist Church will be assisting in festivities this year and will be leading the event’s Family Zone which will feature inflatables, face painting, games and a picture booth. There will also be a promo tent where the church will engage with the community and do giveaways.

A vendor alley will be set up at the event with a selection of local vendors, churches and business for attendees to peruse.

Local scout troops will lead the Pledge of Allegiance during the event and Abigayle Hyche will sing the National Anthem. Chaplain Eddie Burchfield with Fresh Fire Ministries will lead a prayer for the city, state and nation.

Entertainment for this year’s installment of Chelseafest will be led by the headlining band The Monsters of Yacht at 7 p.m.

The fireworks display will begin promptly at 9 p.m. with a synchronized musical accompaniment that will play at the venue and will be simulcasted by radio station KOOL 96.9.

“If you love America and want to celebrate in style with good food, good music, good friends and an amazing firework display come on out to Chelsea on June 29,” read an official release from the city of Chelsea.

Public parking for Chelseafest and The Big Kaboom will be in the field behind the event as well as behind Winn Dixie. Handicap parking will be provided behind the stage.
