MONTEVALLO – Currently underway, Montevallo Main Street and Impact Montevallo have launched a contest that seeks to celebrate Main Street’s presence in the community and the entire community as whole.

“This June, we are celebrating eight years of being a designated Main Street community,” read the announcement from Montevallo Main Street.

In celebration of that milestone, residents of the city are invited to do their part in capturing the essence of the city’s historic downtown by partaking in the first ever For the Love of Main Street photography contest.

The contest, which began on June 1, calls for participants to submit photos toward a number of categories which will be separated into youth and adult divisions—which are intended for contestants ages 5-18 and 18 plus respectively.

Entries will be accepted in all categories until the contest concludes on Monday, July 8. Each contestant is allowed to submit a maximum of five photos.

Entered photographs will be accepted in a total of three categories, which include:

  • Faces
  • Life
  • History

All photo submissions will be reviewed by a judging committee and the top three photos in each category will be posted to the social media accounts of both Montevallo Main Street and Impact Montevallo.

However, there will be more on the line than simple recognition—with a total of nineteen awards that carry cash prizes totaling $800 being presented to the contest entrants that garner the most positive community feedback and engagement.

Specifically, first-place winners in each category and division will take home an $80 prize. Second and third place winners will receive $20 prizes. Judges will also select an overall most creative photo in the contest that will receive another $80 prize.

For further details, or to submit photo entries, those interested can visit the contest’s official webpage at
