Mae C. Mama Mae Godfrey

Mae C. &uot;Mama Mae&uot; Godfrey, 98, died Oct. 19, 2005, at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Columbus, Miss.

She was born in Macon, Miss., on Aug. 23, 1907. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, W.W. Godfrey, and a daughter, Marie Drees. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved doing for others and made everyone feel special. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, reading her Bible, writing poetry, doing crafts, cooking for others and spending time with her family. Her strong faith in God guided her as was evidenced in the life she led. She was loved dearly and will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Martha (Jake) Propst of Crawford, Miss., and Linda Miller of Florence; her sons, Jack (Millie) Drees of Columbus, Miss., Morris C. (Mary) Drees of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Sidney A. (Betty) Godfrey of Huntsville and Robert &uot;Bobby&uot; (Jean) Godfrey of Calera; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Service was Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Chapel, Dr. Bill Drees and the Rev. Ron McDougald presiding. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Miss.

Pallbearers were Dennis Pruitt, Blair Oswalt, Matt Drees, Steve Acre, Ricky Winterbottom, Tom Cooke, Chris Godfrey and Davis Drees
