Pelham wrestlers defeat Leeds

The Pelham High School wrestling team defeated Leeds 48-33 in high school wrestling action Dec. 13.

Eight Panthers won individual matches against Leeds.

Riley Pike of Pelham pinned Chandler Teems of Leeds in the 106-pound match. Robby Brantley of Pelham pinned Tadarryl Marshall of Leeds in the 132-pound match.

Chandler Heard of Pelham pinned Daniel Bowman of Leeds in the 138-pound match. Stephen Janoulis of Pelham pinned Drake Schofield of Leeds in the 145-pound match.

Nathan Walsh of Pelham won his 182-pound match by forfeit. John Brito-Cuevas of Pelham won his 195-pound match by forfeit.

Kenny Hoover of Pelham won his 220-pound match by forfeit. Nicholas Farren of Pelham pinned Blake English of Leeds in the 285-pound match.

Calera fell to Leeds 54-24 in a match at Pelham.

Three Calera wrestlers won individual matches against Leeds.

Shawn O’Neill of Calera pinned Schofield in the 145-pound match. Coby Mize of Calera pinned Tanner Hunter of Leeds in the 160-pound match.

Kevin Murry of Calera pinned English in the heavyweight match.

Pelham defeated Calera 70-9. Twelve Panthers won individual matches against Calera.

Riley Pike of Pelham pinned Robert Thomaston of Calera in the 106-pound match. Wade Thomas of Pelham earned a technical fall over Hunter Alexander of Calera.

Furman Taylor of Pelham pinned Christian McDonald of Calera in the 120-pound match. Mason Tortorich of Pelham earned a technical fall over Keenan Agee of Calera in the 126-pound match.

Chandler Heard of Pelham pinned Shawn O’Neill of Calera in the 145-pound match. Stephen Janoulis of Pelham pinned Cody Thomaston of Calera in the 152-pound match.

Giovanni Adan, Robby Brantley, Antonio Montalvo, Tre Maynard, John Brito-Cuevas and Chris Shiflett of Pelham each won matches by forfeit.

Two Calera wrestlers won individual matches against the Panthers.

Coby Mize of Calera pinned Jacob George of Pelham in the 160-pound match. Kevin Murry of Calera earned a 5-0 decision over Nicholas Farren of Pelham in the heavyweight match.
