Funeral services for General T. Smith were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at Liberty Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Cox officiating. Burial followed at Pinelawn Gardens in Columbiana.
Visitation was held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
General T. Smith, age 74, of Chelsea went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 3, 2009. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Chelsea.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Sue Utley Smith, his father General T. Smith, Sr.
He was a retired member of Local #78 Insulators and Asbestos Workers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Gunnells Smith, daughter, Diane (Richard) Johnson of Chelsea, two sons, Allan (Kathy) Smith of Chelsea and Greg (Teresa) Smith of Thorsby; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kathleen Edwards of Sumiton, Alene Bridges of Anniston, and Willie Lee Smith of Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, Chelsea, Ala. or Victory Baptist Church Missions Fund, Jemison, Ala.
