Jaguars top Walker in tournament

The Spain Park High School baseball team defeated Walker 11-0 in its second game in the Jay D. Kynerd Memorial tournament Feb. 21 at Briarwood Christian School.

Dustin Cowart and Grant Veteto each homered for the Jaguars, who improved to 2-0 overall.

Cowart finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a team-high four RBIs and a run scored. Veteto finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Mikey White finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and a run scored. Colton Freeman went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Brandon Bilek finished 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs.

Josh Close and Hunter Hall each went 1-for-3 at the plate and scored a run. Tom Paduch scored two runs. Paul Angel and Peyton Walsh scored a run each.

Josh Rich earned the win on the mound after giving up just two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

Colton Freeman recorded five strikeouts and only one walk without allowing a hit in the final two innings.
