Warriors finish fourth in King of the Mountain meet

The Thompson High School boys’ track and field team finished fourth overall in the King of the Mountain meet March 10 at Vestavia Hills High School.

Jaalen Jones led the Warriors as he captured two individual championships at the meet.

Jones won the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.86 seconds. Jones also claimed the 200-meter dash title with his time of 21.53 seconds.

The Warriors’ 400-meter relay team also finished first with its time of 43.15 seconds.

The Briarwood Christian School boys’ track and field team finished 10th overall in the boys’ team standings. Oak Mountain came in 20th overall, while Spain Park finished 21st in team standings.

Pelham came in 22nd overall. Westminster School at Oak Mountain finished 25th, while Chelsea came in 26th in team standings.

The Thompson girls’ track and field team came in fourth overall in the King of the Mountain girls’ team standings.

Marcus Lacey led the Warriors as she claimed the 100-meter hurdles title with her time of 15.19 seconds.

The Pelham girls’ track and field team finished eighth in the girls’ team standings.

Caitland Smith led the Panthers with three individual titles. Smith won the girls’ 100-meter dash with her time of 12.52 seconds, the girls’ 200-meter dash with her time of 25.22 seconds and the girls’ long jump with her leap of 16 feet, 7.75 inches.

Westminster School at Oak Mountain came in 10th, while Oak Mountain finished 13th in team standings.

Katie Brooks Boone of Westminster claimed the girls’ 300-meter hurdles title with her time of 46.96 seconds.

Briarwood Christian came in 14th overall, while Spain Park finished 16th in team standings.

Melissa Matthews of Briarwood Christian won the girls’ triple jump championship with her leap of 33 feet, 10.75 inches. Jasmine Moore of Spain Park claimed the girls’ shot put title with her toss of 38 feet, 7.25 inches.
