High school volleyball roundup: Panthers sweep Spain Park

The Pelham High School volleyball team swept Spain Park in high school volleyball action Oct. 5.

Dana Allen led the Panthers with 11 kills in Pelham’s 25-17, 25-16, 25-21 sweep of the Jaguars.

Justina Barrow added seven kills and a team-high 10 digs. Porsha Tolbert added nine digs, three service aces and two blocks.

Elsa Sims recorded five digs and eight assists. Sydney Days finished with a team-high 22 assists.

Katie Best led Spain Park with 10 kills and two blocks. Kendall Carlis added three kills. Natalie Celia finished with three kills and three digs.

Madison Mulkey recorded 16 assists and two service aces. Mary Grace Drum contributed three blocks.

Sydney Fritz chipped in six digs. Abbey Morgan added five digs.

Oak Mountain sweeps Hoover in area match

Samantha Skinner led the Eagles with 17 kills as Oak Mountain wrapped up Class 6A, Area 10 play undefeated following a 25-20, 26-24, 25-22 sweep of Hoover.

Skinner added four digs in the victory.

Emily Cosgrove recorded nine kills and three blocks. Marisa Reese chipped in a team-high 13 digs.

Sara Goodwin added five kills and eight digs.

Thompson splits two matches

The Thompson High School volleyball team defeated Shades Mountain Christian and dropped a match with Clay-Chalkville in a tri-match.

Hailey Schatz led the Warriors with seven kills as Thompson picked up a 25-22, 25-14 sweep of Shades Mountain Christian.

Haley Davenport added six kills. Kasie Holcomb recorded 10 digs.

Sonia Acosta finished with a team-high 20 assists.

Schatz recorded 11 kills in the Warriors’ 21-25, 28-26, 14-16 loss to Clay-Chalkville.

Davenport finished with four blocks. Holcomb added 11 digs.

Briarwood sweeps McAdory

Katie Briley led the Lions with eight kills as Briarwood picked up a 25-21, 29-27, 25-22 sweep of McAdory.

Briley added a team-high 10 digs to go along with three service aces and two blocks.

Sara Kate Bracewell added seven kills, seven digs and a service ace. Kate Carter chipped in six kills, six service aces and five digs.

Logan Nasworthy recorded seven kills, three service aces, a dig and a block. Lauren Palmer added four kills and a block.

Adeline Reiser contributed a team-high 25 assists, five digs and a service ace. Claire Carter finished with seven digs.

Chelsea falls to John Carroll

Emily Handley led the Hornets with 10 kills in Chelsea’s 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 23-25 loss to John Carroll.

Handley added 11 digs and five service aces. Samantha Colyer chipped in 10 kills.

Jesse Vohler added 11 digs, five service aces and a team-high 15 assists. Courtney Campbell finished with 10 digs and four service aces.

Calera sweeps Bibb County

A’Kia Harris led the Eagles with nine kills as Calera wrapped up Class 4A, Area 6 play with a 25-5, 25-15, 25-16 sweep of Bibb County.

Harris added three service aces.

Tierra Robinson added seven kills. Elizabeth Rhinehart recorded six service aces.

Montevallo sweeps Hale County

Mallory Anderson led the Bulldogs with 17 kills as Montevallo capped Class 3A, Area 7 play with a 25-11, 25-22, 25-21 sweep of Hale County.

Anderson added 15 digs and six service aces.

Amber Cardwell added 14 kills and a team-high 20 digs.

Kathryn Ray finished with eight kills and a team-high 24 assists.

Indian Springs wins two matches

Indian Springs swept Midfield and Oak Grove in a tri-match.

Andrea Mayo led Indian Springs with four kills, four service aces and four digs in a 25-9, 25-18 sweep of Midfield.

Kendra Bridgham added three digs and a team-high eight assists.

Mayo led Indian Springs with seven kills in a 25-13, 25-14 sweep of Oak Grove.

Mayo added three digs.

Bridgham chipped in three service aces, five digs and a team-high 11 assists.

Vincent splits a pair of matches

Vincent High School picked up a win over Fayetteville and dropped a match with Ragland in a tri-match.

Kiara Cohill led Vincent with 15 kills in a 25-18, 24-26, 15-6 win over Fayetteville.

Jessica Posey added three kills and 10 digs.

Courtney Holston led the Yellow Jackets with eight service aces. Amber Shaw added five service aces and a team-high 28 digs.

Rachel Johnson led Vincent with a team-high 16 assists.

Cohill led Vincent with five kills in a 19-25, 22-25 loss to Ragland.

Michele Brasher added two kills. Shaw led the Yellow Jackets with five service aces and 18 digs. Joleen George added two service aces.

Johnson chipped in a team-high six assists. Randee Isbell and Holston added six digs each.

Kingwood Christian sweeps Pickens Academy

Casey Whitmer led the Lions with seven kills in Kingwood’s 25-20, 25-11, 25-23 sweep of Pickens Academy in an AISA Class 2A, West Region contest.

Whitmer added eight service aces and two blocks.

Millie Opper recorded four kills and seven service aces.

Karley Chamblee chipped in a team-high 11 service aces to go along with three kills, three digs and nine assists.

Hope Christian sweeps First Assembly

Kelsey Thompson led the Eagles with seven kills in a 25-18, 25-11, 25-17 sweep of First Assembly Christian School.

Hannah Lane added three kills. Teenie Donlin led Hope Christian with 11 service aces.

Melinda Mahan recorded a team-high four assists to go along with three service aces.
