As a youngster, Darlene Wohn was the typical city girl moving around with her family, which included her parents and younger brother.

Born in Plymouth, Mich., she later moved to South Carolina, where she graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.

In 1991 she worked in a furniture store in Columbus, Mississippi. It was there that she met her future husband, Eddie Brown who was also an employee at the store.

After 20 years of working in fast food establishments, the Browns moved to Alabaster, following her parents.

“It was time for a change” Brown said. “I applied for a job at Regions Bank 12 years ago and have never regretted that decision. As a vault teller/cashier I have the … opportunity to meet and greet our customers. Every day is fresh and different. I love it. We have a great crew”

A self-described movie buff, Brown also loves to travel, read and dine out.

“I love Italian food and shopping too,” she said.

Brown is stepmother to Eddie’s daughters, LaShunda and Yolanda, who live in Atlanta and Columbus, Miss. respectively. “We will finally be grandparents in February when LaShunda will have a baby boy,” Brown said. “We are already looking at boy baby clothes. (We) can’t wait.”

Brown is easily recognizable away from her Regions Bank. Many people recognize her as the cheery and helpful teller who is located in the first desk on the left.

Brown said a family trip from New Orleans to Cozumel, Jamaica, and her very favorite, the Cayman Islands have been her travel highlights so far, but she still dreams of a trip to New York for a Central Park carriage ride, Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center and a couple of Broadway shows.

“That is my ultimate dream,” she said.
