The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office released this statement at 2:43 p.m.:

According to the latest weather information from the Emergency Management Administration, the snow is expected to continue until approximately 4 p.m. today and temperatures are expected to be 14 or 15 degrees tonight. The roads will get worse throughout the night with ice on all roads.

No one except emergency responders should attempt to travel on the roads from now until the roads thaw. Abandoned cars are preventing emergency services personnel from responding to pressing calls.
