Shelby County roads are still impassable in many locations and remain closed to regular traffic, according to a news release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

“Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies are responding to all emergency calls as quickly as possible on Thursday morning, but hazardous roadway conditions and blocked roadways due to cars left on the roadway continue to hamper our response,” the release stated.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to stay off the road until conditions improve.

“Civilian vehicles cannot safely travel due to icing and impede the travel of emergency vehicles responding to calls,” the release stated.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office communications center has been overwhelmed with callers asking about road conditions in the last hour, making it more difficult to assist callers with emergencies, according to the release. The sheriff’s office will issue another release when the roads are safe for drivers.
