TUSCALOOSA – The Calera Lady Eagles took a drive on April 21 to pay area opponent Central Tuscaloosa a visit. The game did not go well for the home team, as Calera erupted for 18 runs in just four innings and gave up just one in the process to win in emphatic fashion.

Ashlynn Hamm, as she has many times before this season, took the mound for the Lady Eagles. Hamm pitched a complete, albeit abridged, game. She hurled 85 pitches over four innings and did not allow a single hit while striking out nine.

The contest got out of control in a hurry, as Calera pumped 10 runs across the plate in the top half of the first inning. A single run in the third and seven more in the fourth were enough to call the game early, and Calera was given the win via the 18-1 thrashing.

Jennifer Townley was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day for Calera, and Hamm also had three hits on four at-bats along with three RBIs. Kenyah Speigner and Bri Piocharzcyk each had two hits while Nicole Harrelson, Somer Roberson, Meaghan Marfice and Madison White each registered one hit apiece to bring the Lady Eagles total to 14 over the four-inning contest.

With the win, Calera advanced to 19-8 on the year.
