Chelsea keeps winning

The Chelsea basketball Hornets continued their late-season renaissance with their fourth straight win on Friday night over Shelby County. Chelsea only managed three points in the first quarter, but then put up 42 points over the final three quarters to beat the Wildcats by a final of 45-39. Aaron Washington led Chelsea with 13 points, while Shelby County’s Quinterrious Montgomery led all scorers with 18.

 

Thompson girls beat Pelham

Kahyanne Bolton had 20 points to lead the 7A No. 9 Thompson Lady Warriors to a low-scoring, 41-28 win over Pelham on Friday night. Brittany Grice contributed 11 points as well as Thompson moved to 20-6 on the season with the win.

 

Pelham boys handles Thompson at home

Pelham held Thompson to just seven points combined over the first and third quarters as the Panthers beat Thompson at home on Friday night by a final of 55-46. Alex Reese led Pelham with 22 points and 13 rebounds while Justin Allison contributed 17 in the winning effort. Pelham moved to 16-8 with the win while Thompson fell to 14-11.

Montevallo girls beat Midfield

The Lady Bulldogs from Montevallo held off a second half Midfield run to escape with a 69-64 win on Saturday. After leading 27-19 at the end of the first half, Midfield closed the gap to just three points late in the fourth quarter. Takila Hill hit two free throws with under 15 seconds left to ice the game for Montevallo. Lauryn Lilly scored 31 points while Alasha Reed had 14, Hill had 11 and Emri Hannah chipped in six.

 

Vincent loses at home

Vincent welcomed in 4A No. 9 Childersburg on Saturday and dropped its second game in five days via a tough, two-point home loss by a final of 51-49. Childersburg outscored Vincent 11-8 in the first quarter, and Vincent was unable to recover from the slight deficit the rest of the way. EJ Datcher had 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Stephen Campbell also had 16 points combined with six assists to lead the Yellow Jackets. Vincent fell to 20-6 with the loss.
