Eagles beat Helena 1-0

Christian Thomason scored on a header off a free kick with three minutes left in the first half of Oak Mountain’s game at Helena on Tuesday night. The header was the only goal in the game, as the 7A No. 2 Eagles moved to 4-0-2 and gave 4A-5A No. 1 Helena its first loss of the year as the Huskies fell to 4-1-0.

 

Spain Park girls throttle Briarwood

Jasmine Greene and Haley Stone each had two goals for Spain Park as the Lady Jaguars shutout Briarwood in their first home game of the season 6-0. Kayla Wiggins scored the first goal of the game and Alyssa Young scored the last, while Greene and Stone were responsible for the four in the middle. Spain Park moved to 2-0-0 while Briarwood moved to 2-3-0 with the loss.

 

Thompson boys stay undefeated

The Thompson boys’ soccer team has gotten off to a strong start in 2016, going undefeated through its first three games. The Warriors traveled to Auburn on Tuesday to play the 2015 7A runners-up, and won going away by a final of 5-3. Thompson moved to 3-0 on the year, and has scored 16 goals through three games.

 

Chelsea cruises to 6-0 win over Montevallo

The Chelsea Hornets easily took care of business on Tuesday against in-county opponent Montevallo, winning by a final of 6-0 to advance to 4-2-1 on the season. Chris Hill, Noah Lunsford, Lando Nichols, LaQuarious Belyeu, Tony Nettuno and Tyler Thomas all scored in the game as Chelsea won with little trouble.

 

Chelsea girls dominate Helena

The Lady Hornets from Chelsea opened up a 3-0 lead on visiting Helena in the first 15 minutes of the game before eventually winning 10-0. Chelsea moved to 2-1-0 with the win while Helena fell to 0-3-0.

 

Thompson girls fall to Auburn

After the first two games of the season ended in a 2-2 stalemate for the girls’ soccer team from Thompson, the Lady Warriors traveled to perennial 7A power Auburn on Tuesday. Auburn, which has not lost a game yet this season, beat Thompson by a slight, 1-0 margin, moving Thompson to 0-1-2 on the season.

 

Pelham boys fall to Hoover

After getting beaten badly by Spain Park in the opening game of the season, Pelham won three games in a row while scoring 13 goals in the process to move to 3-1-0. Since that time, the Panthers have now lost three games in a row, including a 6-1 loss at home to Hoover on Tuesday. Irvin Rodriguez scored the games first goal in the eighth minute off an assist from Oliver Espinoza to give Pelham an early 1-0 lead, however the No. 1 team in 7A then ripped off six straight foals as Pelham fell to 3-4-0.
