James Treadwell Davis, Sr.

James Treadwell Davis, Sr., age 87, of Columbiana, passed away Wednesday, March 2.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie and Dr. Julius Madison (Pops) Davis, and his brother, Julius Madison (Foots) Davis, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Klein Davis of 65 years; children, Jim Davis (Lisa), Glenn Davis and Carolyn Stricklin (Les); grandchildren, Lauren (Ricky) Ruston, Treadwell Davis, Graham Davis, Rachel Stricklin, and Michael Stricklin (Sarah); and great grandchildren, Davis Ruston and Griffin Ruston.

Jimmy earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1942, was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity before graduating from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1952 with a degree in Pharmacy. Jimmy worked in Anniston after graduation before opening Davis Drug Company in Columbiana in 1956, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.

Jimmy was president of the Alabama Pharmaceutical Association, president of the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy, awarded the Bowl of Hygeia Award, member of the Auburn University School of Pharmacy Advisory Council, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Auburn University School of Pharmacy, a member of Auburn University 1856 Society, member of the Columbiana Kiwanis Club and Jaycees.

Jimmy was involved in numerous community services, long time member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church where he served in various leadership responsibilities and was a member of the Luther Fowler Bible class.

Services will be held Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Columbiana United Methodist Church, with visitation from 9:30-11 a.m. Internment will held at the Pine Lawn Gardens in Columbiana.
