HELENA–The Helena Lady Huskies softball team has continued to take down area opponents with an overpowering offense and the week of April 4 saw the Lady Huskies go 4-0 against area competition while outscoring opponents by a combined score of 54-7.

Helena 18 – Central Tuscaloosa 0

The Lady Huskies spent no time jumping on the Lady Falcons early as Helena scored 14 runs in the bottom of the first inning as Mackenzie Wilson doubled to left field scoring Mekhi Mayfield, Reagan Curtis and Brooke Chapman.

Numerous runs were also scored after Central gave up several walks placing Helena runners in scoring position. Helena would add four more runs in the second inning and the game would be called in the top of the third inning with a final of 18-0.

In three innings of work, Helena pitcher Katie Lively struck out every Central batter she faced, striking out nine while pitching a no hitter.

Helena 21 – Central Tuscaloosa 2

In the top of the first inning, Central gained an early lead on Helena after scoring two runs. However, Helena would respond in grand fashion as they strung together 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning to regain the lead 13-2.

The bottom of the first inning was highlighted by a two-run double to left field by Sarah Kallaher to score Mekhi Mayfield and Mackenzie Wilson.

The Lady Huskies would crank out eight more runs in the bottom of the second inning as nine different Helena players totaled at least one RBI in the game with Kallaher leading the way with three.

The Lady Falcons issued 15 walks in the game to help Helena’s offense.

The Lady Huskies scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-run single by Laney Bruner, an RBI single by Avery Barnett, an RBI single by Chaney Handley, a two-run double by Mekhi Mayfield and a two-run single by Katie Lively.
