There are several Christmas and holiday events taking place in the City of Columbiana during late-November and December. The City of Columbiana’s Beautification Board is hosting Christmas Parade festivities and a tour of local homes and businesses. The Lights of Columbiana tour and Small Business Saturday will be hosted and promoted by Columbiana Main Street and several churches are also holding events.

According to Columbiana City Councilwoman Ouida Mayfield, Christmas Parade festivities begin on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m., when citizens are invited to start singing carols by the Christmas tree on Main St and College St. Caroling will be followed by a performance by Dream Makers Dance Studio.

Mayfield said that this year’s theme for the parade is “Christmas in Columbiana.” After the parade, the Christmas tree on Main St. will be lit by parade grand marshals Ann and Oliver Head.

On Dec 3., the City of Columbiana will be hosting its annual tour of homes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tourists will meet at the First Baptist Church Of Columbiana and taken to Gail’s Florist and the home of Joel and Amy Dixon by trolley.

Community members are also invited to visit the Horsefeathers Farm and homes of James and Trecia Denney and Terry and Anita Davis as part of the tour. Tickets cost $15 if purchased in advance and $20 on the day of the tour. Tickets can be purchased through the City of Columbiana’s Beautification Board, at Main St. Florist and at Busy Hands.

“These are great events for our community. It’s a festive occasion, and these events are a part of our Christmas spirit,” Mayfield said.

On the day after Black Friday, Nov. 26, Columbiana Main Street is encouraging Columbiana residents to participate in Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday aims to boost local economies by promoting small businesses.

On Dec. 15 and 16, Main Street Columbiana will be hosting the Lights of Columbiana tour. Visitors have the chance to ride one of the Columbiana Trolleys and view the Christmas lights displays throughout town. Tickets can also be purchased at Busy Hands and cost $5 for adults and children over 10.

“It’s really putting a focus on community pride. A lot of people don’t know about all that Columbiana has to offer, so this is our time to shine,” Columbiana Main Street Executive Director Bragan Feldman said.

Mayfield also mentioned that the First Baptist Church Of Columbiana will host a dinner theater event on Dec. 9 and 10, and members of the Columbiana First United Methodist church will go caroling around the city on Dec. 10.
