HOOVER – The death of a man at his residence in the Caldwell Crossings neighborhood has been ruled a homicide, according to police.

Arthur Grey Till Jr., 73, was pronounced deceased by emergency responders on Monday, Feb. 18, after being discovered by two friends who stopped by his residence.

After an autopsy was performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery, the medical examiner determined Till died from blunt force trauma with the manner of death being homicide, according to a release from the Hoover Police Department.

Police and firefighters responded to the 3100 Block of Crossings Drive at about 12:26 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, on a report of an unresponsive person.

“There were no signs of forced entry, but evidence at the scene suggests foul play may be involved,” read the release. “At this point we do not believe the victim nor his residence were randomly targeted.”
