Hoover holds annual National Night Out event

HOOVER – Hoover’s popular National Night Out event moved to a new location this year.

National Night Out in Hoover was held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Belk parking lot of the Riverchase Galleria.

The free event was designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and enhance police-community partnerships.

Attendees had the opportunity to get an up-close look at some of the tools used by police on a daily basis as they work to keep residents safe.

The event featured:

  • Displays by the Hoover Police Department, Hoover Fire Department, Drug Enforcement Agency; Alabama Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; and other local agencies.
  • The HPD Mobile Command Center, SWAT team, Explosive Ordinance Disposal team, a seized Porsche 911 and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
  • Opportunities to meet various members of the HPD and for children to be fingerprinted as part of a family safety plan.
  • A car show.
  • Local food trucks.
