After falling from the Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings a few weeks back, Shelby Academy boys basketball returned to the AISA Top 10 as one of six county teams ranked.

Despite falling to No. 4 Cornerstone (22-1), 55-53, on the road Tuesday, the Raiders (21-5) caught the eye of rankers after beating Lighthouse, Coosa Valley and Lyman Ward in AISA Class 1A, Region 1 play by an average of 19 points per game since last week’s rankings.

Calera (21-5) remained No. 2 in AISA Class 4A, while Shelby County (17-5) moved up one spot to No. 7 in Class 5A despite losing at home to Calera, 74-72, on Tuesday.

In girls’ action, Montevallo (22-1) moved up two spots to No. 5 in Class 3A and Cornerstone (17-5) remains No. 9 in the AISA.
