Helena Hollow to host Mother’s Day rodeo

By MACKENZEE SIMMS | Staff Writer

HELENA – With bull riding, barrel racing and good old fashioned family fun, Helena Hollow will host its inaugural Mother’s Day Weekend Rodeo on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11.

For both nights, the gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Although the show itself will start at 7:30 p.m., guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the festivities. During the wait, attendees can peruse the offerings from craft vendors, enjoy food trucks and ride ponies or mechanical bulls.

According to one of the Helena Hollow owners, Amy Griffin, the rodeo itself will feature a variety of events including saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, team roping, barrel racing and breakaway. Throughout the night, an LED display wall will offer instant replays of all the action.

“It is our first (rodeo) ever,” Griffin said. “We’re super excited to bring it to Helena.”

In the process of scheduling the rodeo, Helena Hollow seized the opportunity to host the event during Mother’s Day weekend.

Griffin shared that she personally doesn’t enjoy being asked what she wants to do every Mother’s Day and would rather her family surprise her with a fun outing instead. This contributed to the decision to offer a big event for the family to enjoy together on Mother’s Day.

“As a mother, I would much rather my family plan something for me,” Griffin said. “We thought this would be a good way for mothers to have something fun to do with their families for the holiday.”

Helena Hollow is an entertainment farm and event venue in Helena that hosts special events throughout the year. Although they are most known for their pumpkin patch, Helena Hollow also has a party barn petting zoo, lakeside pavilion and a Nerf gun battleground obstacle course.
