Oak Mountain upsets Pelham

The Oak Mountain Eagles earned a berth into the sub-regional tournament when they defeated the No.1-seeded Pelham Panthers 42-39 Feb. 8 in the Class 6A, Area 8 tournament at Pelham High School.

Chris Lamb led the Eagles with 10 points and five rebounds. Deshawn Giles and Chris Marino each added seven points while Giles pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Willie Simpson led all scorers with 15 points for Pelham.

Oak Mountain will take on Spain Park in the Area 8 championship game Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at Pelham High School.
