COLUMBIANA – A Columbiana man arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old has been released on bond from the Shelby County Jail.

Cody James Wiley, 27, was indicted by a Shelby County grand jury in November on a charge alleging he committed sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, according to court documents.

Wiley, who lists an address on Thompson Street in Columbiana, “being 16 years old or older, did on or about between August 14, 2015, through August 17, 2015, intentionally subject to sexual contact another person … who was less than 12 years of age,” according to his indictment.

Wiley was released from jail Nov. 17 after posting a $30,000 bond.

He is set to appear in court on Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.

Sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old is a Class B felony and is punishable by up to 20 years in prison upon conviction.
