HOOVER – Spain Park had 12 student-athletes sign letters of intent to continue their athletic careers on Feb. 3. The Jaguar signing ceremony was the largest in the county, and had players from five different sports represented.

The players to sign were as follows. Peyton Bisso signed with the University of North Georgia to play soccer, Markell Clark signed with the Naval Academy to play football, Destini England signed with UAB to play softball, Hayden Freeman signed with Florida Southwestern State to play baseball, Chester Hutcherson signed with Tuskegee University to play football, Thomas Luther signed with the University of North Alabama to play golf, Wade Streeter signed with Miles College to play football, Tyler Sumpter signed with Troy University to play football, Jonah Tibbs signed with Furman University to play football, Kyandi Tipler signed with Delaware State University to play softball, Chase Young signed with Lindsey Wilson College to play football and Perry Young signed with the University of Cincinnati to play football as well.

Of the 12 signees, seven signed to play football in college, two signed to play softball, one signed to play golf, one signed to play soccer and one signed to play baseball.

Clark was verbally committed to Murray State out of Kentucky, but flipped his recruitment to the Naval Academy just a day before National Signing Day. Along with Carter Bankston of Briarwood Christian School and Kyle Harrell of Calera, Clark is one of three county players who signed to play football next season at one of the service academies. The seven football players all played a large role in helping the Jaguars reach the 7A state championship game in 2015.
