The neighborhood hangout

- Several southern Shelby County mayors zipping around town in a sleek orange roadster July 29, as the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce hosted its July Mayors’ Association Meeting.
The Boot at Preserve Village gets its inspiration from unexpected places.
For example, the restaurant’s name comes from — of all places — a Charles Dickens novel. On one of the restaurant’s walls is inscribed this Dickens quote, from the novel “Barnaby Rudge”: “This Boot was a lone house of public entertainment… several people drinking there, and great merriment going on.”
Chef Chris Stone said The Boot lives up to that quote, with a bright, airy dining room and bar perfectly suited to be the neighborhood hangout.
