Hoover City Schools, University of Montevallo to open late on Tuesday

Hoover City Schools will open late on Jan. 7 because of anticipated inclement weather.

Hoover City Schools will operate on a one-hour delayed start on Jan. 7, according to a news release. Students should report to school one hour later than normal. Regular dismissal times will remain in effect.

The University of Montevallo will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Jan. 7, according to a UM news release.

“Please monitor a reliable source of weather information, as well as your UM e-mail and alerts for any further announcements,” the news release stated.

Shelby County Schools and Alabaster City Schools previously announced they open two hours late on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a hard freeze warning for Shelby County. Record cold temperatures are expected in the county on Monday night and Tuesday. Daytime temperatures are excepted to stay below freezing, while overnight temperatures will drop to the single digits to lower teens, according to the National Weather Service’s website.
