Eagles claim Ragsdale Invitational title

The Oak Mountain High School wrestling team claimed the Jeremy Ragsdale Invitational championship Jan. 21 at St. Clair County High School.

Four Eagles claimed individual titles in the Invitational.

John David (J.D.) Peden claimed the 108-pound championship. Peden earned a 6-4 decision over Christian Cortez of Weaver in the 108-pound title match.

Evan Webb won the 184-pound title. Webb pinned Andy Waller of Susan Moore in the 184-pound championship match.

Justin Woodall claimed the 197-pound championship. Woodall earned a 18-1 technical fall decision over Cody Self of Susan Moore in the 197-pound title match.

Lloyd Time won the 222-pound title. Time earned a 7-4 decision over Ryan Harris of Arab in the 222-pound championship match.

Trigg Langner finished runner-up in the 115-pound division. Langner dropped a 15-8 decision to Steven Lindsey of St. Clair County in the 115-pound title match.

Jared Godfrey came in second overall in the 128-pound division. Godfrey dropped a 6-4 decision to Corey Parker of Buckhorn in the 128-pound title match.

Billy Dasher finished runner-up in the 287-pound division. Dasher dropped a 5-2 decision to Marlen Morgan of Buckhorn in the 287-pound title match.

Angus McBee led the Eagles with four pins in the Invitational.

Josh Gaines, Webb, Peden, Langner and Woodall finished with three pins each. Vincent Kimbrough, Time and Dasher added two pins each. Simon Loubser, Jacob Darty and Godfrey finished with one pin each.

Pelham finished seventh in team standings at the Invitational.

Cody Wehunt led the Panthers after capturing the 162-pound championship. Wehunt earned a 8-5 decision over Cass Pierce of Arab in the 162-pound title match.

Furman Taylor and Wehunt led Pelham with three pins each in the Invitational.

Chris Shiflett and John Brito-Cuevas contributed two pins each. Nolan Vinson, Wade Thomas, Robbie Brantley and Nick Farren added one pin each.

Thompson came in 14th in team standings at the Invitational.

Clay Anthony led the Warriors after finishing third in the 115-pound division. Anthony earned a 10-3 decision over Dalton Meadows of Hewitt-Trussville in the 115-pound consolation match.

Anthony led Thompson with three pins in the Invitational.

Hayden Franklin, Hunter Gatlin and Austin Wilhite added two pins each. Trey Berryhill, Trey Watson, Clint Milligan, Jackson Adelberg, Braxton Baker, Jaden Hunter and Luke Hester finished with one pin each.
