Pelham tops Oak Mountain

The Pelham High School softball team defeated Oak Mountain 7-3 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 10 contest April 9.

Becky Fox led the Panthers offensively as she finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Fox drove in two runs and scored one run in the victory.

Kristian Foster finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and scored two runs. Whitney Gillespie finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in one run. Madi Walker, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Erin Whitman, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Emily Spain finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and drove in one run.

Gillespie earned the win in the circle after giving up three runs, including two earned runs, on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game victory.

Caroline Seitz led Oak Mountain offensively as she finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Seitz drove in one run and scored one run.

Samantha Headrick finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Anne Thomaston went 1-for-3 at the plate. Leah Reeve finished 1-for-4 at the plate and drove in one run. Hannah Griffin finished 1-for-4 at the plate and scored one run. Kailey Boone went 1-for-3 at the plate. Maddie Porter scored one run.

Thomaston took the loss after giving up four earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings. Reeve allowed three runs, including one earned run, on three hits with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
