Jones named supervisor of student services for Shelby County Schools

ALABASTER – The Shelby County Board of Education has approved a new supervisor of student services at the latest board meeting on Thursday, Sept. 6, held at the Shelby County Instructional Services Center.

Michael Jones was named the new student services supervisor of Shelby County Schools after previously serving as the principal of New Direction in Columbiana. Jones also has 13 years of experience in education.

Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in collaborative education from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in instructional leadership from the University of Montevallo.

Jones was appreciative of the new position and said he looks forward to continuing to serve the students of Shelby County.

“First of all, thank you to our superintendent and our board members and our central office staff for giving me this opportunity,” Jones said. “I’ve been extremely blessed to be able to serve in various capacities by just working with some phenomenal people and I most look forward to continuing to serve the students in this great system.”
