Hope Christian softball sweeps doubleheader

The Hope Christian School softball team swept a doubleheader March 8 with First Assembly Christian.

The Eagles (2-0) defeated First Assembly 8-1 in the opener.

Tiffany Skinner led Hope Christian at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Skinner drove in three runs and scored one run in the victory.

Samantha Rowley went 1-for-4 and scored a run. Amanda Rowley finished 1-for-2 and scored a run. Ashleigh Callahan finished 1-for-3 and scored a run.

Glennleigh Byrd went 1-for-2 and scored a run. Lindy Walker finished 1-for-4 and drove in two runs. Ashley Vann finished 1-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Ani Hughes and Hannah Rettig drove in one run each.

Vann picked up the win in the circle after striking out 22 batters with one walk in a complete game.

Hope Christian pounded First Assembly 21-3 in the nightcap.

Walker led the Lightning at the plate as she finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs and four runs scored.

Callahan went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and four runs scored. Amanda Rowley finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Skinner finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored.

Megan Mahan went 1-for-3 and drove in a run. Sarah Birdsong finshed 1-for-1, drove in a run and scored four runs. Rettig finished 1-for-2, drove in a run and scored two runs. Boyd went 1-for-2 and scored two runs.

Skinner picked up the win in the circle after striking out five batters in two innings.
