Hope Christian School head football coach Tony Nafe had plenty of praise for his team after the Eagles soared past the Christian Community Colts 60-14 on Oct. 11.

“This, across the board, is the most solid team I’ve seen since I’ve been affiliated with Hope,” Nafe said after the game. “They have really taken to heart what we’ve been teaching.

“To see these guys develop physically, mentally and spiritually has been amazing,” Nafe said.

The Eagles recorded 418 total yards of offense in the win, 266 of which came in the air. Hope quarterback Reid Allen was responsible for all of Hope’s passing yards, and connected on 12 of 18 passing attempts.

Allen also rushed for 47 yards, followed closely by Dillon Thompson with 37 yards.

Defensive standouts for the Eagles were Timothy Bell, with 10 tackles, and Thompson and Jonathan Misso with seven tackles apiece.

Allen connected with Thompson on a 62-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and Ben Friedlander scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. After a Colt punt snap sailed over the kicker’s head, Hope’s Joseph Patton fell on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown.

In the second quarter, Allen connected with Thompson on a 38-yard touchdown pass, and Zach Gramstad recorded a fumble recovery.

In the third quarter, Allen connected with Thompson for a 5 yard touchdown pass, and connected with Cameron Barnett on a 25-yard pass. Thompson also scored on a 77 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Allen connected with Thompson on a 26-yard touchdown pass and also added a 15-yard touchdown run on the ground.
