Hope Christian School took on the Lighthouse HomeSchool Warriors Oct. 9. The Eagles were coming off a loss to Ezekial Academy and hoping to take home a win against this non-region team.

The Warriors beat Hope Christian in a hard fought battle 48-38.

Both teams were held 0-0 in the first quarter, but Lighthouse was the first to score in the second with Colby Ferrill rushing for a 45-yard touchdown. The team was unable to complete the two-point conversion.

Two minutes later, Lighthouse scored again, this time to Clay Ferrill with another 45-yard touchdown pass. Unable to capitalize on another two-point conversion, the Warriors led the Eagles 12-0 in the second.

The Eagles answered with a touchdown of their own. Chance Washburn completed a 15-yard pass to Juan Cuellar for Hope’s first touchdown. Hope also went for the two-point conversion, but was unable to score the extra points.

With only two minutes left in the first half, both teams were able to score one additional touchdown, with Lighthouse completing a two-point conversion. Hope trailed Lighthouse 12-20 at halftime.

The Warriors scored first in the third quarter with Micah Beard completing a 10-yard pass to Benjamin Hixon for a touchdown, putting another six points on the board for Lighthouse.

Almost immediately, Hope responded with a touchdown of its own. A 10-yard pass from Washburn, allowed Tyler Hubbard to score, leaving Hope trailing Lighthouse 18-26 at the end of the third.

In the last quarter, Lighthouse’s Beard was able to pass for three addition touchdowns, capitalizing on two two-point conversions.

Hope refused to go down quietly in the fourth. A 25-yard pass to Hubbard, an 80-yard pass to Cuellar and a 15-yard pass to Nick Adams each resulted in a touchdown for the Eagles. They also completed one of the three attempted two-point conversions.

Although the Eagles scored an impressive 20 points in the last quarter, the Warriors ultimately beat the Eagles 48-38. The Hope Christian Eagles will take on Lyman Ward Military Academy Oct. 16 in its last scheduled game.
