COLUMBIANA – Lesters Chapel UMC will host its fourth Spring Arts and Crafts Festival alongside a yard sale fundraiser for the Clint Mooney Foundation on Saturday, April 6.

The festival is organized by Sylvia McDonald who explained that it is an opportunity for local artists to present their original works in a community setting.

“There will be a total of 17 arts and craftsmen including watercolor, oil, acrylic, potters, wheel turning, photography, jewelry and a variety of arts and crafts,” she said.Attendees will also have the opportunity to view the creation process of the woodturners and portraitists outside if the weather permits.

There will also be a yard sale fundraiser for the Clint Mooney Scholarship Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

“Clint Mooney, the son of Kelly Ellis Davis, was lost to suicide a few years ago,” said Joan Garnett. “Kelly has established the foundation to raise money in her son’s memory for a scholarship.”

Ellis said that her son loved forestry and established the scholarship to award to Auburn University students participating in a forestry or fishery degree program.

There will be a silent auction at the end of the event where attendees can buy some of the artworks made during the day. Some of the proceeds will go to the church, the scholarship foundation and to the artists themselves, according to McDonald.

Other offerings include free activities for children, pulled pork boxed lunches available for $8 and homemade desserts for sale.
